Why PDF to Word is never perfect

A PDF is like a printout: it records where each word is drawn on the page, not how paragraphs, columns or tables were built. A converter has to guess the structure back from positions. Simple documents convert almost perfectly; multi-column magazines, complex tables and forms need some tidying afterwards. Fonts may also change if the original fonts aren’t available.

Scanned PDFs

If the PDF is a scan or a photo of a document, it contains pictures of text rather than real text, and there is nothing to convert. Use PDF to JPG to turn the pages into images, then Image to Text (OCR) to recognize the words, and paste the text into Word.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a PDF to an editable Word file?
Drop the PDF here, choose “Editable text” and click “Convert to Word”. The DOCX downloads in seconds.
Is my PDF uploaded?
Not in “Editable text” mode: the PDF is read in your browser. “Keep page layout” mode converts on the server and deletes the files immediately.
Why are images missing?
“Editable text” mode extracts text only. Use “Keep page layout” (if available) to keep images.
Can it convert scanned PDFs?
Scans contain no real text. Convert pages to images and use Image to Text (OCR) instead.
Does it add a watermark?
No. The Word file is yours with no watermark and no sign-up.
