Why convert to MP3?
MP3 is the most compatible audio format in the world. It plays on every phone, computer, car stereo, smart speaker and website. Converting WAV or FLAC to MP3 shrinks files by 75–90% for sharing, while converting M4A, OGG or Opus to MP3 helps when a device or app doesn’t support those formats, such as older car stereos or some voice-message exports.
Tips for the best quality
- Start from the best source. Converting a 128 kbps MP3 to 320 kbps doesn’t add quality; it just makes the file bigger.
- Use mono for speech. Interviews, lectures and voice notes rarely need stereo, and mono halves the size.
- Choose WAV for editing. Each lossy re-encode loses a little detail, so edit in WAV and export MP3 at the end.
- Normalize quiet recordings so they play at a comfortable volume.
Limitations
This converter outputs MP3 and WAV, the two most widely supported formats. Input support depends on your browser: Chrome, Edge and Firefox open nearly everything, while Safari can’t open some OGG files. Need the sound from a video? Use Video to MP3.
